[Surry Hills] Nua Thai - Great food and Great atmosphere

Since Thai food is getting more popular in Sydney..  it is not difficult to find Thai restaurants around here.

But! It is hard to tell which restaurant has good food and good atmosphere..

Me and Simon (my boyfriend), we both were getting bored of having Thai food in Sydney CBD.. So we went to Surry Hills where pretty close to city but has more vintage style.

..and we found this restaurant ↓ '3'

Nua Thai menu is made of leather..(only for the front page haha)

and this gives me a good feeling..like I feel privileged.

Yes. I am very easily impressed. 

I got bored of waiting food.... :P

We ordered two teas.

Orange(behind) is authentic Thai tea.

 I have never tried this Thai tea in any thai restaurant so far..

This is amazing.. deep scent and flavour. Must try tea!

And another one is normal pepper-mint tea.

 

Appetizer 1 - Satay chicken skewer 

These chicken skewers are similar to Mamak taste. 

This dish served with bread rusks but surprisingly these rusk pieces and chicken skewer were very well harmonised.

Appetizer 2 -  Money Bag.

According to staff in Nua Thia, this money bag used to be served only for King in Thailand and Thai people think this is the symbol of luck or wealth.

Sounds really awesome and taste really awesome too :)

 The first dish to arrive was the duck salad with cashew nuts. This was my first time to try duck dish in Thai restaurant. I did not fail on this salad but did not success either....

Salad vegetables were very fresh but dressing was bit salty. 

Duck part was mainly skin..not flesh... and less than 10 pieces of duck skin clearly did not make me satisfied. 

Jasmine steamed rice - $2.5 per person

The second dish to arrive was cashew nuts with chicken.

We love ordering cashew nuts dishes, so never fail to cashew nuts dishes.

Sauce was also bit salty but well balanced with jasmine rice.

Simon and I left Nua Thai feeling very happy thanks to friendly staff there.

If you are bored of having meal in CBD, come to Surry Hills.
